Robot@Factory

.: ABSTRACT

The first edition of this competition took place on Festival Nacional de Robótica 2011, and it was a success. The Robot@Factory aims to recreate the challenges and difficulties that an autonomous robot faces when used in a factory. This factory consists of a supply warehouse, a warehouse of finished product and eight processing machines.

The robots task is to transport material between warehouses and machines. To do so, robots require minimum capabilities such as collection, transport and positioning of materials, localisation and navigation in the environment, as well as avoiding collisions with walls, obstacles and other robots.

The competition takes place in three rounds that present increasingly difficult challenges. This challenge allows for a gradual transition, in terms of task complexity and technical knowledge requirements, between the junior and senior leagues, such as autonomous driving. The first edition of this competition included five teams and this year a gradual increase in the number of applicants is expected.
